Will AI take over PR?

The impact of AI on the PR industry has been a hot topic in the BPR office.

Our team have been researching and debating its role in audience targeting, reputation building and strategic message delivery.

We know that in PR what we deliver is original and unique.

We write the stories of brands we work with, strategically deliver messages to the right audience at the right time, monitor public opinion, protect brand reputation, craft compelling narratives and build credibility – just like AI.

A friend or a foe?

While Google’s AI mode uses prompts like ‘thinking’ and ‘listening’, AI doesn’t have a brain.

When search engines provide personal, AI-powered answers, they are filtering through credible sources on the web.

Including respected publications and mentions by industry leaders meaning PR is as important as ever if you want AI to find you and for your brand to stand out and be original.

SEO and the budget businesses are putting behind it are not the way of the future, we need to diversify back to the marketing mix.

That’s not to discredit the great work SEO has done to help our clients gain visibility to their audience, but when your customer looks up ‘What’s the best burger in Adelaide?’ or “Who is the best criminal lawyer in Adelaide?”,  SEO alone isn’t enough to get you searched and listed on top anymore – PR is.

When our clients are featured in respected publications, mentioned by leaders, or appear organically across the web, AI recognises its credibility.

So is AI a friend or foe to PR?

We’d argue it’s your most powerful ally if you know how to use it.
