World PR Day 2025

July 16 marks World PR Day where we celebrate all things PR and the passion, creativity and dedication that we put into every client.

We are grateful to be in an industry where no two days are ever the same. Today and as BPR celebrates its 12th year, we reflect on the power that comms has to shape perceptions, influence culture and bring brands to life.

Here’s a few of our favourite PR moments that have influenced pop culture locally and globally…

The Met

The annual fundraising gala has been redefined through strategic PR and comms. It is more than just a celebrity fashion event with PR helping to position the event as a cultural phenomenon over the years, producing global coverage and months of pre-event buzz. Not to mention the role media and influencers have in shaping conversations around the high-class fashion shown each year. Like the talks of Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ dress at the 2022 Met, the outfit reveal, the criticism, the historical significance and the indisputable making of an iconic Met moment.

“Barbiemania”

Two years ago we couldn’t open our phones without Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film on our feeds. The outcome, dubbed “Barbiemania” was the ultimate omnichannel marketing campaign from Margot Robbie’s Barbie-inspired red carpet looks, brand partnerships and collaborations and complete social media takeover including with the viral AI-generated Barbie doll trend earlier this year. What was a movie release became a cultural phenomenon of nostalgia and self-identity.

RAA’s “Better to be a member”

We can’t go past RAA’s “Better to be a member” campaign with KWP+Partners and Rising Sun Pictures collaboration, Trev the bee. Love him or hate him, the bearded bee is exactly the character needed for RAA, as a heritage brand, to refresh and reposition their member-first brand message.
