A day in the life of a PR professional, as told by BPR’s Director

A day in the life at BPR is never the same – with our meetings, media interviews, strategy development, media calls, crisis communications, emails, phone calls and everything else in between –  we can get pulled in so many different directions on our busy but extremely fun days!

To make sure I have a work life balance in the morning I usually follow a routine so that before I get to work I have done certain things to take care of my mind and body.

6am –  I have either just woken up naturally as I hear the birds or my alarm goes off and I am up with my cup of French Earl Grey tea, Wordle and a flick through the papers – if there is anything in the paper for our client I share it with them and the BPR team. Most mornings I also sneak in a load of washing.

6.30am – I head off to Studio Pilates for my 40 minutes of reformer pilates, it’s the longest I have stuck at something – I love it and it suits my busy lifestyle – short, sharp and effective!

7.20am – Back home and getting Hunter ready for school, packing lunches and getting ready for work. If Hunter is with his dad, I will take Maggie for her morning walk.  I will also do a quick check of my emails before I jump in the car.

8.05am – In the car for school drop off and work, and I am always listening to the breakfast team from Mix102.3.

8.30am – In the office and the day begins… who knows what might happen!

3.30pm – If I am picking up Hunter I leave the office to grab him and get him off to some sort of sport after school.

5pm – Log back in and check emails, finish off work for the day,  approvals and returning any calls I have missed in the arvo.

6pm – Start making dinner with the news on the background to make sure I know what are any new happenings for the day –  I love cooking and I rarely cook the same things, although I do have a couple of things that are on rotation, one of my fav’s is poached ginger chicken (think Hainese chicken and rice), l always add lots of chilli and lots of greens!

6.30pm – Usually Maggie gets a shorter walk around the block, this is a circuit breaker and it helps me shut off from work – some nights if I am too tired then the circuit breaker is a glass of wine!

7pm – Dinner is usually in front of the TV with whatever I am binge watching at the time – most recently I have been loving all the prequels to Yellow Stone like 1883 and 1923 but I can never get enough of a good British murder detective or crime show either. I’m loving Mob Land at the moment. Helen Mirren is the Queen!
