Adelaide 36ers
Background
The Adelaide 36ers, also known as the Sixers, are an Australian professional men’s basketball team in the National Basketball League (NBL). The 36ers’ tally of four championships is equal with the New Zealand Breakers and Sydney Kings, and third only behind Melbourne United (six) and the Perth Wildcats (ten) as the most by any club in the NBL’s history. In 2020 COVID created one of the most difficult years the club and the NBL has experienced.
What we did
BPR managed all media and communication strategies for the Adelaide 36ers throughout the 2020-2021 season and for the pre-season 2021-22. This included building the profile of the Adelaide 36ers team, coach, and all of the players across the local and national TV sporting landscape. Press conferences were held twice weekly and we managed the sports media box during games including post-game press conferences. BPR was also responsible for local media accreditation and parking on home game days. In NBL season 2020-21 NBA Draft hopeful Josh Giddey received unprecedented media requests from local, national and international media which BPR managed including facilitating an NBA documentary crew who filmed and created a documentary on Josh’s journey throughout his rookie NBL season to then be drafted at number six to Oklahama City.

Our Result
As well as managing media and PR, BPR created and coordinated the social and digital calendar for the Adelaide 36ers, hosted media personalities, influencers and sponsors at games and were also responsible for cultivating and securing one of the Adelaide 36ers most lucrative partnership deals that they had secured in years. BPR received extremely positive feedback from all stakeholders including the media and NBL who commented on many occasions that the Adelaide 36ers were the most professionally managed media team throughout the 21/22 season.
